Fallsview is the hotel district in Niagara Falls with hotels, resorts, casinos and views of Horseshoe Falls. For a bit cheaper, you can stay in hotels near Colton Hill with views of the American Falls, but since we drove up from Toronto and were only staying one night, we decided to splurge and stay in Niagara Falls Marriot Fallview Hotel & Spa with a Fallsview room. How was the hotel and the upgraded room? I will tell you about the location, the rooms, the amenities and services, the view, and the prices.
Fallsview Location
The location is a few minutes’ drive from Colton Hill. Although outside of the main attractions, there are plenty of restaurants in the Fallsview district, a few casinos and it is here where you get the best view of Horseshoe Falls. Parking is easy, albeit pricey; you can pay for a valet or self-park just a few minutes away.
Price & Costs
Parking is easy but expensive. Self-parking wasn’t too far away, but it cost $45 a day for a rundown and decerped lot. Although I didn’t mind the walk and didn’t want to pay $65 for valet. It’s safe to say Niagara Falls is expensive. The hotel price wasn’t as bad as I would have expected. We decided to upgrade to a Fallsview room which was about $50 a night more. We ended up paying close to $300 CAD after taxes which wasn’t bad, considering the view and quality of the hotel. And finally, another expense was breakfast; it was either fast food, another expensive restaurant or take advantage of the views and eat at our hotel. We elected for the latter; it cost us $30 a person which seemed pricey for a hotel breakfast buffet.
Restaurants & Breakfast
The Marriot Fallsview Hotel & Spa contains a couple different food options. They have the lounge bar for casual bites, Starbucks and the upscale mezzanine restaurant, Morton’s Grille. This is where we had breakfast.
I was expecting a basic hotel breakfast, but I was impressed. Not only was the view spectacular, with excellent views of Horseshoe Falls, but so was the service and the food. The buffet had plenty of options and had an omelet chef with plenty of toppings and add-ons. There were breads, pastries, different style eggs, sausages, bacon, beans, salad, fruits, cereals and plenty of desserts. The food was excellent and I ended up going back for seconds. Despite being expensive, the food and view was worth it and it was a perfect way to spend a relaxing morning in Niagara Falls.
Amenities & Hotel
The restaurant and the view from the Marriot Fallsview was super nice and so was the rest of the hotel. On the main level, the lobby had a Starbucks and the lounge, both with plenty of seating and beautiful views overlooking the falls. The atmosphere and vibe was classy and elegant. There was also a fitness center and a pool, I didn’t use either but both looked nice. All in all, the entire hotel was beautiful; amazing views, nice furniture, it was clean and classy. It was no wonder why the Marriot Fallsview Hotel & Spa have excellent ratings.
Room & Fallsview
In addition to the services and amenities located throughout the hotel, the room was nice and clean. The room was large and comfortable as were the beds. The room had all the basics you’d expect in a hotel: safe, the amenities you need in a washroom, a fridge and a coffee maker. And since we paid extra, we had a room with a window overlooking the falls. There were extra chairs in front of the window and it was nice to go to bed looking at the lit-up falls. Then in the morning sipping a coffee and enjoying the views was peaceful and relaxing. We were on one of the lower floors so the view wasn’t excellent, but it was solid. We enjoyed the view, despite the heavy mist from the falls blocking part of the view. All in all, it was worth spending a few extra bucks for the room with Fallsview.
Final Thoughts: Was it Worth it?
The Marriot Fallsview Hotel & Spa is a little bit on the pricey range, but it isn’t outrageous. We paid extra for a room with a view and it was totally worth it. The hotel is clean, classy and elegant and has amazing views of Horseshoe Falls. The location is good and despite having to pay for an expensive breakfast, parking and a bit of a pricey room, you get what you pay for. And it’s no wonder we had a celebrity spotting in the library, Shawn Hatosy from The Pitt and Animal Kingdom was staying there! I’d recommend staying at Niagara Falls Marriot Fallsview Hotel & Spa and I’d recommend if it’s only for a few days splurging and getting a Fallsview room.
