Eagle Beach: Why It Might Be One of the Top 10 Beaches in the Worldh?

I’ve always been a fan of beaches, after visiting Flamenco Beach in Puerto Rico, I knew I wanted to visit more of the world’s best beaches.  I had always heard about Aruba and knew Eagle Beach has been rated as a top 10 beach on TripAdvisor, but Aruba was never really on my radar.  But last month we ended up heading to Aruba, and I knew we had to spend some time on Eagle Beach.  We ended up staying at Eagle Aruba Resort, so it’s safe to say we spent a lot of time on Eagle Beach.

Location

First let’s start with the location, Eagle Beach is located on Aruba’s  west coast and just south of the famous Palm Beach.  Unlike Palm Beach, Eagle beach is much calmer.  There are a few hotels (they call it the low-rise hotel zone) and apartments nearby, a Super Foods and a few restaurants.  Most of the stuff is just across the street, but there was one restaurant/bar, Passions on the Beach, directly on the beach.  Also, adjacent to the beach is a bike and running lane, sort of like South Beach in Miami.  There are a few other restaurants just across the road with nice views of the water.  There aren’t a ton of dining options, but everywhere we ate was good.  With that being said, it can be kind of quiet, depending on what you’re looking for, this may be ideal or may be a bit boring.  Although, it makes a beach day on Eagle Beach much quieter and more tranquil.  There are also a few small places to buy drinks to sip on while enjoying the beach.

The Beach Itself

Because of where it’s location on the west coast, Eagle Beach has calm waters.  There are some waves, but it is much calmer than much of the island; Aruba is a windy island.  The water is a beautiful clear turquoise, but it’s not as clear as some other beaches I’ve been to.  This is because of the wind which stirs up the sand.  Although, like I said, the water is relatively calm but still has gentle waves.  The water is warm and feels beautiful to swim in.

But even better than the water is the sand.  The sand of Eagle Beach is probably the best sand I’ve ever stepped on.  The white sand is powder and super soft.  Even when in the water, the sand is soft and beautiful to walk out on.  In our entire time there, I never stepped on a rock, reef or piece of seaweed, it was just soft powdered sand.

And in addition to having some amazing sand, Eagle Beach is known for amazing sunsets.  The location and beautiful backdrop of the beach makes for some of the world’s best sunsets.

Fofoti Trees

Because of wind of the island, Aruba is home to unique trees that are native to the island.  There are the Divi-Divi Trees but even better are the Fofoti Trees,  The Fofoti Trees are the iconic trees photographed on Eagle Beach.  There are only a couple of them but they make for some cool photographs and a beautiful back drop to the beach.  These are native to Aruba and uniquely shaped because of the wind.  Just read the signs and have some common sense, don’t hang things on them or climb on them, and don’t hog them because people like to take photos of them.  There are also other unique desert like trees you’ll find lining the beach.

Beach Spots

Aruba is very safe, but Eagle Beach still has security, so you don’t need to worry about your things on the loungers when you go into the water.  Security also makes sure you don’t leave a towel on the loungers and palapas all day.  The beach doesn’t get too busy and there are plenty of loungers and palapas, but the workers and security will help you get a nice spot.  Water sports are offered too, but unlike most Caribbean beaches, the vendors aren’t pushy and will leave you alone unless you approach them.  There is snorkeling, jet skiing and much more.

Verdict: Should it be Considered a Top 10 Beach?

So Eagle Beach is a quiet, calm, tranquil and beautiful beach with some amazing sunsets.  The best part is the powder soft sand and the unique Fofoti trees.  The sand is next level and really makes swimming and stroll along eagle beach amazing.  There are plenty of good spots, so you can enjoy relaxing on Eagle Beach all day.  Now, is Eagle Beach worthy of being considered one of the best beaches in the world?  The water wasn’t as clear as I’d liked, but it was still beautiful.  And with the sand, the unique trees and landscape and the calmness I’d say YESThere is no wonder TripAdvisor has rated Eagle Beach as a top 10 beach in the past.
