Camping is a lot of work but if packed and planned right it can be a lot of fun. There are many essentials and tips to ease your camping experience, but once you’ve gotten that down, there are a few things you’ll need to take your camping experience to the next level. Here are some things to ease and luxury to level up your camping experience:
Pop-Up Canopy (Kitchen) Tent
Everyone knows that a major part of camping is the cooking and eating in the great outdoors. To stay away from bugs and eat in peace, kitchen tents are essential, but many of these take ages to set up, allow bugs in and are just a pain in the ass. That’s why we purchased the Ozark Trail 12’ x 12’ Instant Straight Leg Tenting Canopy. It was quick and easy to set up and take down, 5 minutes each, and took our eating experience to the next level. We enjoyed our bug free dinners, had lots of room to eat, prepare our food and it really added to the charm of our camp site. And, despite being quite large, when folded up and in the bag, the tent compresses small and easily and doesn’t take up a lot of room. The tent is a good price, but don’t forget to purchase the mosquito net walls.
Projector/Screen/Movies
When the sun goes down, there’s nothing cozier than getting a fire going and watching a movie on a massive screen by the campfire. Purchase a cheap projector and screen from Amazon, bring your DVD player or a USB and play some movies while roasting marshmallows. You can hang your screen on your kitchen tent or from some trees in the woods, but one things for certain this will definitely level up your camping experience.
Solar String Lights
Decorate your campsite with solar or even battery-operated string lights. Drape them around your kitchen tent and from trees. This will add to the charm of your campsite and will be a really nice touch while watching your movie from the projector.
Water Jug Pump
This isn’t flashy or exciting like some of the others, but the water jug pump will make your camping experience a lot easier. Make sure you bring a large jug of water with the pump you can put on the top. This will make washing dishes, your hands, and brushing your teeth easier and will even save you some money on water bottles.
Hammock
Not only do you want to make things easier, and add to the ambience, but you also want to add comfort. Bring a hammock! A hammock can add levels of comfort to your camping trip, and their cheap and easy to set up. We have a pop up hammock, but we also have a typical tie to tree one too. In addition to cooking some good food, once you're done cooking or even setting up, lay back and enjoy the outdoors!
Camp-Kitchen
Cooking is key in camping, and everyone who goes camping brings a barbecue, right? Maybe even a Coleman Stove? To organize your cooking things and add to your campsite comfort, consider purchasing a Camp-Kitchen. We purchased the Ozark Trail Deluxe Portable Grill Table. There are 3 cooking surfaces with a shelf underneath. It makes for a nice set up with the barbecue with tables on the sides to work with; whether you’re cooking multiple things at once, or just want to cut up the ingredients beside the barbecue, it really is convenient. Plus, the Camp-Kitchen folds up nicely, doesn’t take up a lot of room and can be set up in minutes… hell even seconds. The Camp-Kitchen is one way to ease your cooking experience and level up your camping experience in the great outdoors.
Good/Atypical Camping Food
I love a good burger and hot dog and will be the first one to suggest bringing these foods camping… but I don’t want to eat these things for the entire camping trip. Spice it up a bit, bring some luxury food items. Pick up a good ribeye at your local grocery store, bring all the spices and herbs in a Tupperware and have a good dinner one of the nights. Or try marinating some kebabs the morning you’re leaving and bring them in a Tupperware to cook on your first night out. We’ve had Filipino Barbecue, Korean short ribs, wings and good steaks all while camping. We usually bring some avocados for avocado toast and eggs in the morning too. You don’t want to overdo it, but plan ahead and pack smartly. Nothing tastes better than food cooked while camping; so, cook some good/atypical foods while camping and really level up your camping experience!
Final Thoughts
Camping doesn’t have to be roughing it—at least not entirely. With the right gear and a few thoughtful touches, you can enjoy comfort, good food, and even movie nights in nature. Pack smart, prep ahead, and give a few of these ideas a try on your next trip. You'll be amazed how much it enhances the whole experience.
