Catamaran to Cayo Blanco Review

One of  the best tours I’ve ever done was the Catamaran tour to Cayo Blanco.  The tour was arranged through Sunwing.  On the morning of our tour, we were picked up from our resort and taken to the Marina where we grabbed a coffee and waited until it was time to load onto the Catamaran.

The tour was all inclusive for alcohol and drinks and came with lunch once we reached the destination.  The Catamaran crew was great, hyping up the travellers, pouring drinks and even starting a dance party at one point in the middle of the Caribbean.  As for the Catamaran itself, there was plenty of seating with ocean views and a net at the front where you could sit or lie down above the crystal blue water.  The atmosphere was amazing, and because of this, all the travellers were in great moods, and we made a lot of friends throughout the day.

Our first stop was to snorkel at a coral reef.  Usually, snorkeling is one of my favorite things to do, and the only negative of this trip was that the snorkelling was sub par at best.  I saw more fish snorkelling off the beach at our resort than I did in the middle of the sea at this coral reef.  But that’s okay, there was plenty more adventure the rest of the day.

After the coral reef, we stopped to “swim with the dolphins”.  Although, we didn’t really get to swim with the dolphins except for those who paid extra.  But we got in the water with them, watched them do tricks, got to touch them, and even received a kiss from a dolphin.  If you’re okay with marine life in captivity (although in the middle of the sea in a large fenced region) then you’ll definitely enjoy this part of the day.

After that, the boat made its way to our main attraction, Cayo Blanco beach.  As you arrive to the island, you’ll be stunned by the vista.  Crystal blue water, white sand, studded with exotic palm trees.  Once we docked, the first order of business was a gourmet sea food buffet for lunch.  Lobster, fish fillets, rice, potatoes, chicken, etc.  After lunch you have time to stroll the white sand, swim in the warm beautiful water, or just soak up the red-hot sun and take a break under the shade of the palm trees.

It was one of the nicest beaches I’ve been to  and was a great experience on the boat.  I’ve been on other Catamaran tours, but this was definitely the best one and comes highly recommended on your next trip to Varadero.
